MVR-64 multiverter Release Notes
Firmware version: 3.2, 2018-10-02, Document status: 2018-10-02
====================================================================

NOTE: Although the firmware has been extensively tested, there is no guarantee
that everything is 100% compatible. If you run into problems, please drop us a
note to <info@appsys.ch> and we will look into it. Most things can be fixed via
a firmware update.

FIRMWARE VERSIONS
-----------------
- This firmware package 3.2 consists of the following firmware sub-components:
  FPGA: 3.2
  Control: 3.2
  Dante: 3.2.0.0

Make sure to upgrade/downgrade always FPGA/Control and also Dante to the matching
  versions!

REMOTE CONTROL + CHANNEL-WISE ROUTING
-------------------------------------------------------------
- Web control can be reached under the DNS name of the MVR-64 Dante device
(see Dante Device Manager), e.g. "MVR-64-xxxxxxx.local" (with xxxxxx beeing individual
to each device). Alternatively, you may use the IP address directly.

- Telnet control can be reached under the same IP, on port 2300, no password required.
Type "help" to see which commands are available.

- USB command line control is via USB serial terminal on the first port of the FT2232 device
listed in the device manager. Communication parameters are 115200,8N1,no flow control.

- MIDI can be used to recall presets.
  To do so, send a "Program Change" messages (program 00 = Preset 1...program 11 = Preset 12).
The MIDI channel is set to 1 by default but can be altered using function "07"
(Note: The channel is a per-preset setting, if you need to change it you will do so in all 12 presets!)

GENERAL
-------
- Varispeed operation is not supported.

ADAT
----
- 32kHz/64kHz/128kHz samplerates are not supported.

AES50
-----
- 192/176.4kHz samplerates are not implemented. Let us know if you require it!
- 32/64/128kHz samplerates are not supported because they are not specified for AES50.
- The MADI-TP port can be switched to function as second AES50 port (adapter cable
  required due to different pinout).
- When the MVR-64 is clock master connected to a Behringer X32:
If the X32 was initally set to a different samplerate, the connection is not
automatically re-established after the X32 is set to the correct samplerate.
  To re-establish the connection, either:
  - temporarily select another clock source or sample frequency on the MVR-64,
  - disconnect or reconnect the AES50 cable
  - power cycle the MVR-64.

Dante
-----
- Make sure to use the latest version of the Dante Virtual Soundcard, especially after
upgrading to Windows 10. Older versions are likely to be broken and produce incorrect
  audio ("digital noise").

MADI
----
- When the input is connected RME MADIface Pro as source device, changing the samplerate
while MADI is clock source causes the MVR-64 to lose lock permanently until power-cycled.
Solution: Power-cycle the multiverter after changing samplerate.

Wordclock
---------
- Input termination is default OFF.
  To switch termination On
  1) Remove power from the device
  2) Open the cover (2x Torx T10 screws) and lift it on the side of the screws
  3) Locate the red DIP switch at the wordclock jack. Move Switch #1 to "ON" to
     enable 75 ohms termination.

RS485
-----
- Not implemented, function will be supplied later as firmware update.

PC (USB)
-------
- Only used for the command line remote control, and firmware updates.
This is *NOT* a PC sound interface! If you want to use the MVR as soundcard,
connect it via Dante to your PC and use the Dante Virtual Soundcard software.
